ABSTRACT
This research analyses water and sanitation’s system to assess the supply system in Indonesia using the Indonesia Family Life Survey (IFLS) longitudinal data. We will use wave 1 (IFLS 1993) as the baseline then continue to analyse the next four waves. In this research we also want to extract informations on how big the role of groundwater in Indonesia’s water supply system. IFLS data was used because it represents of about 83% of the Indonesian population that also has a very good time series (longitudinal) data tracking the same community and households during the period of survey. Such survey also has a very good documentation (code book) describing the setting and condition of the survey. Two approaches will be conducted, cross-sectional to explore the relationships and patterns between parameters in different locations, and longitudinal analysis to observe data behaviour. Multiple regression statistical analysis using R open source package will be used to extract the structure in the data set. Using the analyses we need to evaluate the time series pattern, the relationship between parameters and the significant role of groundwater in the sanitation and water supply system.

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Indonesian Family Life Survey (IFLS) is a survey conducted by an organisation called RAND Corporation. This institution ran this mass survey on five major islands in Indonesia. Along with, they also measure the same life survey in Malaysia, Guatemala, and Mexico (RAND Corp). Despite the popularity of the survey, there are still very few Indonesian researcher using this data set. The following figure shows the dominant of non-Indonesian authors in the IFLS paper database.

CHAPTER 2 LITERATURE REVIEW
IFLS has been analysed by experts from many countries since its first wave in 1993. It was used to identify the condition of water and sanitation system (Butz/Habicht/DaVanzo 1984; Sumarto/de Silva 2015), mostly in five major islands in Indonesia (Figure 2). It was also analysed to promote water accessibility to increase quality of life (Kopilevych 2013). Urban life characteristics were also derived from IFLS data analysis (Park et al. 2003; Rubalcava et al. 2008; Widyanti et al. 2010), and so was socioeconomic status (Mani 2014; Ng et al. 2010). Recently the data set was also drawn the attention of public health researchers, especially those work in stunting and obesity. IFLS data used to calculate prevalence analysis of stunting, obesity, and also to track the double burden malnutrition (Rachmi et al. 2016a; Rachmi et al. 2016b; Usfar et al. 2013).

On the other side, multivariate statistics also have been used widely to identify hidden data structure (Bear-Crozier et al. 2016; Cohen 1968). Some researcher use them on hydrochemical data set to extract the hydrogeological system (Deny Juanda/Silaen/Irawan 2003; Herdianita/Julinawati/Amorita 2010; Irawan et al. 2009; Irawan/Puradimaja 2006). Based on those papers, this study of IFLS data using multivariable statistics is feasible and can be used to track the setting of water supply and sanitation system in Indonesia.

CHAPTER 3 METHODS
The method used in this study is based on cross-sectional and longitudinal approach. Cross-sectional observes different groups in the data at the same time, while longitudinal approach observes the behaviour of a particular group through all waves (see Figure 3 and Figure 4).

Riset ini akan memerlukan kepakaran di bidang hidrogeologi dan teknik lingkungan. Keilmuan Hidrogeologi dan Teknik Lingkungan berperan utama dalam kegiatan yang akan dilakukan untuk mengetahui aliran kontaminan berasal dari pertambangan tradisional dilihat dari kondisi geologi daerah tambang serta kualitas airtanah.
