Coke and Pepsi to change recipes Coke and Pepsi are changing their secret recipes in the US to avoid putting a warning label on their drinks. The new formula will have less 4-methylimidazole, a chemical used to give the drink its brown colour. Health experts in California say the chemical could cause cancer if drunk in very, very large doses. Coke said they'd change the recipe to avoid the warning label, but don't think the chemical is a risk to humans. Tests were done on mice and rats using the chemical. But you'd need to drink more than 1,000 cans of Coke or Pepsi a day to take in the same dose given to the animals in the tests. Coke have said that they won't change the recipe for Europe, though.
Drought warning for West Africa Action is needed right now to stop drought in West Africa turning into a disaster affecting 13 million people, Oxfam says. One million children in the Sahel region are at risk of severe malnutrition. In some parts of Chad people are so hungry they are digging up ant hills to gather grain that the ants have stored. The agency says high food prices, extreme poverty and regional fighting are also to blame. A £23m emergency appeal has been launched to help more than a million of the most vulnerable people there. Oxfam says aid agencies and governments were too slow responding to the famine in the East Africa that killed many thousands of people last year.

Chewing gum campaign has an Olympic flavour "Do Your Country Proud" is the message of a new campaign asking us to dump our gum in a bin rather than on the pavement. Posters using the Olympic Games as inspiration show models in sporty poses dumping their gum in the bin. It costs the UK millions of pounds to remove chewing gum from our streets. The campaign, by the same people who brought us "Keep Britain Tidy", is designed to get the streets looking smart for the Olympic year. It reminded us of a British artist, Ben Wilson, who came up with a clever idea of a use for discarded gum - he creates miniature paintings on it! Check out some of his work below.
