Marvelous Me
Year 1
Year 1 IPC topic ‘WHO AM I ?’ The little ones are certainly leading the way in fulfilling our school’s objective to have excited learners! They take full advantage of all the opportunities provided to explore and investigate what is around them. Year 1 are working on the International Primary Curriculum topic “Who am I?” which focuses on children’s knowledge of where they are from, and challenging their understanding of their surrounding. This develops tolerance and an understanding of each other’s differences and similarities.
The students painted their self -portrait. We looked at portraits from different artists and different times. Together we reflected on why portraits exist and we tried to imagine why some portraits were made. Reading for Pleasure The children are learning how to read for pleasure. The focus on the British curriculum is teaching this skill to all children. The students show good concentration and are eager to read their books. Our reading rotation mornings are now well established. Kids get to read one on one with the teacher while the rest of the class is working independently on different tasks. There is a "task list"

YEAR 4 IPC FIELD TRIP “EXPLORERS AND ADVENTURERS”
We rode bus to Dusun Kreatif. We played and talked until we arrived in Dusun Kreatif. After that we ate snack. Then we warmed up and danced chicken danced. We were divided into groups and we answered some questions. We were also studying about how to plant some plants. After that, Mr.Andi asked us to take a rest and played congklak. After that we made things out of leaves and bamboos. We had our lunch and played terompang panjang after we had done with our lunch. The Dusun Kreatif people asked us to go o the mud for catching fishes. After that they asked us to take a bath befor going back to the school. On the way to go back to school, we talked and played some more. The most adventurous part was when I played terompah panjang. I like it because it was fun. I felt like an explorer when we walked vey long to go to the mud although I didn’t go in the mud. I like it because I like walking for a very long time. I like to visit Dusun Kreatif. I wish I could go there again The teachers that followed us to Dusun Kreatif were Ms.Mary, Ms.Erna, Ms.Rani, Mr.Rey, Ms. Juni and Ms.Grace. (Cathrine – 4ME)
What happened in Dusun Kreatif was when we arrived there, they served us sugared doughnuts, tea, and flowercakes. It was so yummy. After we ate the snack, we did some warm-ups. After warming up, we wrote in a piece of paper about a tree with fruits. After that, we learnt about parts of banana and how to plant its baby. Then, we played congklak. They asked us some questions while we were playing congklaks. Those who could answer the questions were going to be given badges. Then we created toys from plants as well. We ate nasi tumpeng which was so yummy. The best thing was when we caught fishes in the mud. It was so fun. I felt like I am and adventurer when playing in the mud. (Gillian Lim – 4GA)
September- December 2017 | 12
In the morning when we arrived there, we got some snacks like tea, doughnuts, and flower cakes. After that we had some exercises. We were dancing to chicken dance. When the song was played we had to dance, if not, we had to find a friend, hold them and spin around. If there was 4-8 people there, they made a circle and turned around. After the chicken dance we divided ourselves into 4 groups and gave the groups names of the cities in North Sumatera. After that, we wrote on pieces of paper what we thought about what it would be like if there were no trees in the world, what kind of trees we know (example: apple tree, palm tree, and many more). We also went to see the trees that we listed down on the paper. One of the trees that we saw was the palm tree. There are 3 kinds of palm trees. Palm trees have very many uses. One is, they are used to make medicine. We learnt how to plant then went back to the house and played Congklak while we took a break. The activity continued with making guns out of banana tree trunks. Each of us got one, but it was only for the boys. We played a battlefield using those guns. After that we went inside the house and made a plate from banana leaves for lunch. We also played Terompang Panjang, played in the mud and caught fish. I caught 2 fishes, but unfortunately 1 escaped. We put the fish inside a plastic bag, went back, took a bath and bid goodbye. The coolest part was when we created a battlefield and played using the guns. The most adventurous part was when we were catching fish in the mud because I felt like we were adventurers that found fish in the mud. (Marco – 4RF)

Rounders is a team sport that’s played by two teams between six and fifteen players, using a bat and ball. This sport helps students imrpove teamwork and thoughtfulness.
Batters are ready to hit the ball.
Bowlers are ready to throw the ball.
Batters are ready to run to the 2nd post.
Bowlers are ready to catch the ball.
Hubert: Rounders is two group fights between the thrower and hitter. Sometimes the game is not fair, because the enemy is trying to block our way to the cone. Gavin: Rounders involves throwing and catching; when you’re catching the ball, you need to run and touch the cone before the hitter. Actually, rounders is nice game to play, but sometimes the enemy blocks the cone.
Freya: We play rounders as a team, not individuals. We play with two teams and each team has 13 players. 5AA vs 5RY. We need to run quickly, we also need to make strategies and work as a team.
Millie: Rounders is a game that requires a ball and a bat. There are 2 teams of many people. Rounders is like Pokemon move ^_^. Your goal, if you’re hitter, is to hit the ball and run to all the cones then you get 1 point. Seriously, 1 point!
Chloe: Rounders is fun, but the problem is about teamwork. I learned in Rounders, we need cooperation but our class has no teamwork. They say that rounders is boring but for me is quite fun.

Measuring
Measuring is a process to assignment of a number to a characteristic of an object or even which can be compared with other object or event. In measurement we measure different quantities such as length, mass or volume and each quantities has it own units such as metres for length and litres for volume. The units when we measure called SI or Standard International Units. The benefit by using this standard units is become compulsory for the all countries, scientists, engineers, technologist to use common language of systems of units and symbols, thus the result of any research in one part of the world can be easily compared with results in any other part of the world. And the other benefit is for a same object that we measuring to be same results for other that measure it in other part of the world. Like if we measure mass of Kevin Ong is 50kg, so in America the mass of Kevin Ong is 50 kg also. And if we bring Kevin Ong to the moon, the mass also 50 kg. Example : Oouwwhh It’s Same
Some tools that we can use in daily measuring are …….

Year 8 Science
September December - December2017 2017| 17 September-
This term, we are learning about photosynthesis. It is a process of making food for plants or process where plants capture energy in sunlight and lock it away (chemical energy). We have done many experiments: the first one we did was observing whether leaves have starch or not. Based on our experiment, leaves contain starch because after we added a few drops of iodine it turned into a blue-black colour, which meant that starch was present. We also tried to de-starch a plant by covering a leaf using aluminium foil and placed it in a dark place for 24-48 hours. In that time, the plant did not get sunlight and it used all of the starch until it was finished. The next experiment we did was decolourising a leaf. We put a leaf in alcohol or ethanol and the result was the leaf did not contain any starch anymore, by testing using the iodine test. (Agnes) I have understood that starch is really important since it can turn into glucose and it’s food for plants. If there is no starch available, the leaf will be de-starched and there will be no food for the plant. I have also learned that iodine is used to test if it leaves contain starch. I also learned that when we decolourise a leaf, we need to use ethanol; it makes the plant lose its starch. The stomata also is a very important part for humans, animals and plants. For plants, it can diffuse oxygen out of the leaf, which is needed for humans and animals to breathe. It also prevents the leaf losing too much water. (Audrey)

From the entire photosynthesis topic, I learned that the starch in leaves (which we have tested with iodine) comes from glucose that is stored and it can be converted back into glucose for future use. When seeing the stomata of different leaves through a microscope, I observed that stomata really are like dots, but the position of the stomata can differ from leaf to leaf. We have also done experiment about decolourising a leaf by placing it in ethanol and stringy fibrous walls of cells in plants are cellulose, which is another form of stored glucose, but it cannot be converted into glucose and used for energy. This topic gave us many chances to do experiments (Bernice)
I learnt that chlorophyll is the substance which makes plants green. Chloroplasts are small structures that contain chlorophyll in it. I also learnt that photosynthesis is a process which involves plants converting light energy to make food. And respiration is when they respire or release energy to let plants work, so the connection is plants need photosynthesis to do the process of respiration (Louis)
I have always loved learning about photosynthesis; learning about how plants make food, what plants need, etc. I have also learnt where plants store their food: potatoes in swollen underground stem, sunflowers on their seeds, cabbages on their leaves, apples on their fruits, bamboo on their stem and carrots on their roots. I have also learned that the leaf is not all green and it’s called variegated because some parts are green and some parts are light. (Valentina)

Aku Cinta Indonesia
Year 10
Matahari terbit menyinari alam.

APPLICATION OF INTEGRALS
Integrals have a wide scope in our daily lives. Such as in Technology, Physics, Economy, Math, and other areas. In Math, integrals are used for measuring areas, determine the volume of circles and determine the length of arcs. In our Math class, we learned how integrals are used to calculate the area of the three point line on the basketball court.
First, we checked the size (length and width) of a basketball court from the internet.
We then drew the graphic of the three point line section.
Lastly, with integrals, we could calculate the area of the three line point.
