Keywords: Mastery of English Vocabulary, Jolly Phonics The mastery of English vocabulary of the third grade students of SD 5 Jepang Kudus is still low. It is still limited on their ability in knowing the meaning of the words without knowing the spelling. This difficulty makes the writer try to find a media which enables the students to understand not only the pronunciation and the meaning but also the spelling. Therefore the writer uses jolly phonics as a media of teaching English Vocabulary. Jolly phonics is a media which is firstly introduced by Sue Lloyd of Woods Lake Schools Suffolk, England. In international, this media is known as Jolly Phonics. It enables children to start learning phonics knowledge and skills systematically by the age of five with the expectation that they will be fluent readers having secured word recognition skills by the end of key stage one. The objective of the research is to find out whether there is a significances difference of teaching English Vocabulary of elementary school of SD 5 Jepang Kudus on the third grade in the academic year 2014/2015 before and after taught by using jolly phonics. This research is done at the third grade students of SD 5 Jepang Kudus . The design of this research is experimental research by using test instrument. The research subject is the whole students, consist of 24 students. The instrument used to collect the data is in multiple choice 10 number and essay 10 number test. All of the students are given pre-test, the test which is given before using jolly phonics, and after they get the treatment, the research continuous giving post-test. The result of the result indicates that using jolly phonics can lead the students to spell the English word in English vocabulary. It can be seen from the pre-test and post-result. The result of pre-test is low (mean = 66,96 and standard deviation = 91,58). And the result of post test is high (mean = 84,25 and standard deviation = 9,18). It shows that there is a significant difference between the mastery of English vocabulary in elementary school of SD 5 Jepang Kudus on the third grade students

taught by using jolly phonics in academic year 2014/2015. The result of t-observation is higher than t-table. (t0 = 14,23 > tt = 2,07). Based on the result of the research above, the writer suggest that the teacher can use jolly phonics as the one alternative media to teach English vocabulary mastery because it is proved that it is increasing students’ English vocabulary mastery.

Hal ini masih terbatas pada kemampuan mereka dalam mengetahui arti dari kata-kata tanpa mengetahui ejaan. Kesulitan ini membuat penulis mencoba untuk menemukan media yang yang memungkinkan siswa untuk memahami tidak hanya pengucapan dan makna tetapi juga ejaan. Oleh karena itu penulis menggunakan phonics periang sebagai media pengajaran bahasa Inggris Kosakata. Phonics Jolly adalah media yang pertama kali diperkenalkan oleh Sue Lloyd dari Woods Lake Sekolah Suffolk, Inggris. Di internasional, media ini dikenal sebagai Jolly Phonics. Hal ini memungkinkan anak-anak untuk mulai belajar pengetahuan dan keterampilan phonics sistematis oleh usia lima dengan harapan bahwa mereka akan pembaca fasih memiliki keterampilan pengenalan kata dijamin pada akhir tahap kunci satu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah ada signifikansi perbedaan pengajaran bahasa Inggris Kosakata SD dari SD 5 Jepang Kudus pada kelas tiga pada tahun akademik 2014/2015 sebelum dan sesudah diajarkan dengan menggunakan phonics periang. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas III SD 5 Jepang Kudus. Desain penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimental dengan menggunakan instrumen tes. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa secara keseluruhan, terdiri dari 24 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dalam pilihan ganda 10 nomor dan esai 10 uji nomor. Semua siswa diberi pre-test, tes yang diberikan sebelum menggunakan phonics periang, dan setelah mereka mendapatkan pengobatan, penelitian pemberian terus menerus post-test.

Hasil Hasil menunjukkan bahwa menggunakan phonics gembira dapat memimpin siswa untuk mengeja kata bahasa Inggris dalam kosakata bahasa Inggris. Hal ini dapat dilihat dari pre-test dan post-hasil. Hasil pre-test rendah (rata-rata = 66,96 dan standar deviasi = 91,58). Dan hasil post test tinggi (rata-rata = 84,25 dan standar deviasi = 9,18). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris di sekolah dasar dari SD 5 Jepang Kudus pada siswa kelas tiga yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan phonics periang di tahun akademik 2014/2015. Hasil t-observasi lebih tinggi dari t-tabel. (T0 = 14,23> tt = 2,07). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas, penulis menyarankan bahwa guru dapat menggunakan phonics periang sebagai salah satu media alternatif untuk mengajarkan bahasa Inggris penguasaan kosakata karena terbukti bahwa itu adalah meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata bahasa Inggris siswa.
